Even though entering their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This occasion provided a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
