From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
